Vienna Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods. Article-By-Article Commentary

The 1980 Vienna Convention is the result of many years of effort within the UNCITRAL framework. Undoubtedly, the success of the Vienna Convention is to a great extent owed to the fact that the drafters took into consideration almost all of the modern economic and legal systems in order to find most appropriate solutions that are adequate for the current level of global economic development. It is obvious that some of the solutions embodied in the Convention are far from being perfect from the point of view of traditional legal techniques used in some countries. It should be remembered however that the Convention is the fruit of a compromise which is anyway more useful to have than not.
