Andrey Gorodissky, AGP Managing Partner, took part in the session on Cross-border projects in the ECA region: avoiding mismatches at the IBA Europe – Caucasus – Asia Forum held in Almaty on September 5 – 7, 2018.
In his report, Andrey outlined the key differences between registration of Union trademarks, as defined in the Agreement on Trademarks, Service Marks and Designations of Origins approved in March 2016, and the international registration of trademarks under the Madrid Protocol.
Andrey also discussed the benefits and issues relating to application of provisions of the Agreement, as well as the lack of a system for obtaining a common patent for other IP rights, such as industrial designs and utility models, in the Eurasian region.
