Conference on alternative dispute resolution in Russia’s legal system

The Alternative Dispute Resolution in Russia’s Legal System Conference took place on June 25, 2009 in St. Petersburg. The lawyers of the firm actively participated in the preparation for the Conference and in its work.

The main goals of the Conference: discussion of tendencies and results of the development of alternative dispute resolution (ADR) in modern Russia, main problems and the ways of overcoming them; discussion of conceptual trends in ADR development in Russia (science, legislation, education and practice); assistance in the formation of an independent, scientifically substantiated concept of ADR development in Russia.

The forum was timed to the 10th anniversary of the Arbitration journal and had been organized by the journal’s editorial board jointly with the St. Petersburg Humanitarian University Law Faculty, RF Chamber of Commerce and Industry, RF Supreme Arbitration Court, Russian Center for Promotion of Arbitration, the St. Petersburg branch of the Institute of State and Law of the Russian Academy of Sciences in cooperation with leading scientific and public organizations, law firms and attorneys offices, including Andrey Gorodissky & Partners.

In the course of preparation for the Conference, Dmitri Lubomudrov (Partner) delivered comments on a few most topical issues concerning problems in the establishment and development of ADR in Russia. The comments were published in the special jubilee edition of the Arbitration journal issued before the Conference (No. 3 (63), 2009).
