On May 24, 2018 Ivan Zykin, a Partner of Andrey Gorodissky & Partners, took part in the International Arbitration Conference in Stockholm. The Conference was organized by Global Arbitration Review and attended by representatives of leading law firms practicing in Sweden. It took place at the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce. More than 100 lawyers working in law firms, corporate lawyers, representatives of academic community and the Arbitration Institute were present at the conference.
The first issue that was discussed was formulated in a way exasperating polemic bitterness: “Do Arbitrators Suffer from Procedural Paranoia?” or, to put it differently, to what extent the commitment to the “procedural immaculacy” influence arbitrators’ conduct during examination of a case. Separate sessions were devoted to other practical issues such as drafting an arbitral award, legal experts’ role in the international arbitration. The format and content of the session where in advance prepared questions of the audience were discussed captured considerable interest. The questions were grouped by topics. The involvement in the discussion of the said topics of a wide array of seasoned professionals from various jurisdictions contributed to the depth of the discussion.
