Nikolay Popelensky Passed Away

On January 14, 2022, our colleague Nikolay Popelensky, RF and Eurasian Patent Attorney and Of Counsel at AGP, passed away as a result of acute exacerbation of a chronic disease. He was 72.

Nikolay was born in Tyumen (Siberia, Russia). After graduating from the Moscow Automobile and Road Technology Institute in 1971, he engaged himself as a patent and trademark attorney in protection of intellectual property rights, to which he devoted over forty years of his life.

Over the years of his professional carrier, Nikolay represented numerous non-Russian companies in prosecuting and protection of their industrial property rights in the USSR and the Russian Federation and helped Russian organizations to register their industrial property rights outside Russia in 144 countries. He was also an expert working with the Russian State Duma to develop amendments to the trademark legislation.

Many years of cooperation and friendship have bonded Nikolay Popelensky and the AGP team. In 2016, after completion of a number of joint projects, the professionals of Popelensky Patent and Trademark Attorneys merged with AGP. Veronika Popelenskaya, Nikolay’s daughter, who is a trademark attorney, is also with us. Nikolay worked with us as an of-counsel, sharing his impressive experience with younger colleagues. We valued him as a unique, top-class professional and a highly trustworthy, responsive and honest man.

The decease of Nikolay is a great loss to all of us at Andrey Gorodissky & Partners. We offer our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Nikolay.
